Wimberly House Yard Sale

August 1st - 8:00 AM

Once again we are planning a yard sale benefiting Wimberly House Ministries. You can help to make this a great success, by donating items for the sale. We are hoping that everyone will take a look around the house, closets, garage or tool shed to see if you have anything to donate. Some of the best sellers
are: furniture, tools, lawn furniture/equipment, cooking and kitchen goods, home accessories, ornamental items, children's and baby's clothing, coats, toys, sports equipment, antique or unusual items. We are looking for just about anything, except adult clothing ( which doesn't sell well unless it is practically new).

WE WILL GLADLY PICK - UP LARGE ITEMS FROM YOUR HOME. Smaller items can be brought to the Wimberly House or St. Michael's at anytime. We have already begun collecting and storing some items in an off-site storage unit, so please don't think it is too early to begin giving. Call us for pick-up or with any questions - Linda Broome (706) 793-8788 or Sandi Chalker (706) 554-1213.

Thank you for supporting Wimberly House Ministries.

Search Update for May PDF Print E-mail

During the month of May, the Search Committee received five resumes and has conducted four inital interviews:  One via Skype video/internet, one in person, and two via telephone.  Of the five candidates, only one resides in the state of Georgia.  The 5th initial interview will take place during the first half of June and will be conducted via telephone.  Based on the four interviews thus far, two of the candidates appear to be a close match for our parish profile.  Our plan is to move forward and continue our search.  E-mail letters have been sent to approximately forty churches in Western NC and will also be sent to churches in Eastern Tennessee.  The letters being sent are in effort to "get the word out" by asking for prayers for St. Michaels in our search for a rector.  This letter has been successful in generating and attracting qualified interest to St. Michaels.  In fact, one cadidate told us that three individuals had mentioned our profile to him due to the letter which they received.

Next steps:
1.  Intial interview with remaining cadidate
2.  Communicate with interested NC candidates
3.  E-mail letters to Eastern Tennessee churches
4.  Move forward to 2nd steps with viable candidates

Regards,
Search Committee

Rector’s Discretionary Fund PDF Print E-mail

I’m so grateful to all who gave so generously to the discretionary fund on Easter Sunday. I feel compelled to tell you my procedure in giving funds. I always ask for a copy of the bill that needs our assistance. I photocopy the bill, have the person sign that they have received a check (made out to the company-Georgia Power , City of Waynesboro, Housing Authority, etc.) with the check number and the amount. I have never given anyone any cash, nor have I written a check to any individual. I know that God blesses all of our efforts to be the hands, feet and heart of Christ in our community. Many thanks to all who give!!
