Download St. Michael's Parish Profile is here St. Michael's mission is to glorify God through worship, fellowship and education; and to reflect Christ's love through sharing, caring and serving our parish family and the community. We seek a leader who can lead parishioners to a more complete understanding of God's love and hope, encouraging us to live out the Gospel in our daily lives. We seek inspiration from a Rector whose sermons give insight to scriptural lessons and whose leadership helps us translate the Word into action. We hope for a leader who challenges and instructs, not only through intellectual appeal, but also by compassionate example of Christ's call to love one another. We seek a Rector who will help us focus our faith, gifts and energy toward refinement, development and attainment of a common vision for a lively and healthy parish future. While we seek a challenging leader, we also look for a person to share our corporate life and join us in building a community in which all feel necessary and valued. Waynesboro, Georgia is the county seat of Burke County, located 25 miles south of Augusta and 100 miles north of Savannah, the headquarters of the Diocese of Georgia. It is a charming historical town with an abundance of "front porches" and people who are constantly striving for a safe and secure environment to pass on to their children and grandchildren. St. Michael's Church was organized and built in 1895, becoming a Parish Church in 1980. Since the beginning, our parish has steadily grown and become a mainstay in Waynesboro. We participate in ecumenical affairs and belong to the Ministerial Association. Our commitment to living our faith extends beyond St. Michael's through our outreach programs. Wimberly House Ministries is at the heart of much of our giving and doing. The Wimberly House, a private residence across the street from the church, was purchased by St. Michael's in 1993 and serves as an ecumenical community outreach. Eloquently stated, the purpose is "to provide help and hope for hurting people...to meet human needs in an interfaith community where those needs are not currently met." Programming includes an after-school program and summer day camps, Alzheimer's respite care, counseling, support groups for alcohol and overeating, drug awareness for parents and teens, parenting classes and rape crisis and sexual assault assistance.
